Technical Assessment Parameters
Master EICR Guidelines & Client Preparation Manual
Phase 1: The EICR Journey
Understanding the rigorous steps our engineers take to verify your statutory electrical safety:
Phase 2: Preparing for Site Disruption
An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a statutory safety requirement. To verify the safety of your wiring, our engineers must perform "Dead Testing," which requires a total isolation of the electrical supply.
Mandatory Client Responsibilities
It is physically impossible to test the resistance of copper cables while they are live. Therefore, software shutdowns of your equipment are the strict responsibility of the client prior to our arrival.
💻 IT Servers & Data Centres
Sudden power loss can cause catastrophic data corruption. Action: Your IT department must manually execute a software shutdown of all servers, UPS units, and NAS drives before our engineers arrive.
❄️ HVAC & Process Units
Air conditioning units and process machinery are sensitive to sudden loss of phase. Action: Units must be safely "spooled down" locally via their control panels prior to isolation.
🛗 Lifts & Fire Alarms
Lifts: Must be grounded at floor level and emptied. Fire Alarms: You must notify your monitoring centre (ARC) that testing is active to prevent accidental Fire Brigade call-outs.
Phase 3: Understanding Your Outcome
✅ SATISFACTORY
Your installation is safe for continued use. No immediate work is required. Your certificate will be valid for the duration specified (usually 3 to 5 years depending on environment).
❌ UNSATISFACTORY
Any C1, C2, or FI codes result in an unsatisfactory report. These must be remediated immediately to ensure the safety of occupants and compliance with Statutory Law.
Full Technical Observation & Coding Ledger
The following parameters are extracted meticulously from the NAPIT Codebreakers and Best Practice Guide 4. This ledger is used by TMUK engineers to provide definitive safety classifications.

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: This Technical Assessment Parameters ledger is provided for guidance and educational purposes only. It is designed to help clients understand the typical coding structures applied during an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR).
However, every electrical installation is unique. The final decision regarding the classification code (C1, C2, C3, or FI) applied to any specific defect rests entirely with the competent, qualified engineer carrying out the inspection on site, based on their professional engineering judgement and the specific environmental risks present at the time of testing.
